This week at MVA we studied Isaiah 6:1-8 (pg 702).
It’s an amazing scene where this Old Testament prophet gets a glimpse of God’s throne.
He’s so blow away he can’t do anything but bow and realize how unworthy he is to be there. And he’s not wrong because he’s sinful like all of us. But God purifies him and Isaiah is so encouraged, he just says, “I’ll do whatever I can to serve you.” As Christians we have a similar story. We’re all sinners but we’ve been made pure through Jesus’ death. Because of that gift we say, we’re here to serve you God any way you want. A part of serving Him is sharing Him with others and that’s why I’m sending you this.
I care very much about you and I want you to know the same gift I have. Have a great week!
Romans 12:1-2 (pg. 1160) tells us that God is calling us to be “living sacrifices.” Basically long before the self-help gurus on Instagram, God knew that we can’t just believe something in our minds. We have to live it out in our physical bodies too in order for it to change us.
I want to encourage you this week to consider one thing that would change in the way that you lived if you really believe in Jesus. Have an awesome week!
Hello! This week we talked about worship – which is simply when we give value to something. Of course we give greatest value to God because He is over all.
That’s especially important in difficult times when we remember that
God has power to meet every need because He has power over all of it.
Check out Hebrews 4:16 (pg 1223)
that tells us how to approach the throne of God when we have needs.
This week our minister shared some of his insights from a recent trip he had to Israel. He said it was like having better lenses put in your glasses and that the big takeaway is that Jesus calls us to be followers that can expect opposition form those that don’t like us and from some of our friends as well when we choose to follow Him.

Jeff shared from John 5 (pg 1091) that religious leaders and the man that Jesus healed both ended up not liking Jesus much for what He did and said even though He was the perfect Son of God.
In other words, if something really matters it’s going to cost something and following Jesus will do just that.
But it is so worth it. I hope you have a great week.

And if you have already chose your word for your one person send them a text tell them
to read all of Luke chapter15 (page 1072) and then tell them
They are the lost sheep or coin. He values you so much that he will never stop looking for you. You can never go to far and like the father to the wayward son will always welcome you with open arms.
Hosea 6:6 (pg 929)
This week we learned that we don’t have to earn God’s love, we already have it.
We simply need to desire to stay in relationship with Him.
All the good things we have from God comes from truly knowing Him.

If you haven’t started a real relationship with Jesus, then start today.
Ask Him to speak to you, to reveal Himself in a new way
so you can start a lifelong friendship that continues to grow
and grow as you find new things about Him everyday.
This week as we learned more about God’s Love Language we were challenged to think of Obedience as not a burden but rather, an opportunity.

We are obedient to God as an act of worship and as a means
to demonstrate our faith and to prove our love to Jesus.

Rather than walking in the will of the flesh, Jesus chose to walk in the will of God
so that He could help all who are tempted to disobedience.
Hebrews 2:18 (pg 1222)
I choose to walk in the will of God by following Jesus
and I would love to talk to you about that.

I hope you had a great Easter.
When we met for Easter services, we talked about the way we respond
to God’s offering of free Salvation from our sins through Jesus.
This week we talked about what happens after we receive that gift.
You might think you’ve arrived then, but it’s just the beginning of a new life.

When someone is saved they name Jesus “Savior” (the one who saves them)
and “Lord” (the one they will now change their lives to follow).

The latter gets left out sometimes.
He loves us where we are but doesn’t let us stay that way.
He loves us too much to not change us.

Check out Luke 9:23 (pgs. 1063)
The Resurrection of Jesus is the most fantastic fact, in all of history.
Eye witness accounts, the faithfulness to death of His closest followers, the transformation of the world at the time – based completely on the idea that a person could raise from the dead. Jesus lived and died and rose again.
Because of that wonderful truth, we have hope. My deepest desire is that you know the risen savior that i know. John 11:25-26 (pg. 1101) asks a reallly important question. Take a look and see how you would answer it.

I hope you have an awesome Easter week!
Today we talked about a very challenging topic:
the idea that God doesn’t force us to love Him or be in relationship with Him.
Our preacher used the illustration “broken-up-with” boyfriend that won’t leave his ex alone. God isn’t like that.
He gives us freedom to choose him or not. But when we do, we can trust in His power to save us and protect us. Check out 1 Peter 1:5 (pg. 1237) for an encouraging truth about that.
So glad to continue to be able to share with you what we are learning in our study of God’s Word.

This week we talked about the Biblical concept that there are two kingdoms in the world: the Kingdom of Darkness and the Kingdom of Light. You can read a great couple verses on it in Colossians 1:12-14 (pg. 1202)

We can see the hurt all around us that is clear evidence of hopelessness, and pain, broken relationships, etc. Jesus offers access to a Kingdom of hope, healing and purpose; right now, not just a life to come. The path to that Kingdom is a simple one. I’d love to share the way I took that journey sometime. I’m praying that you will as well!

Oh, by the way. Easter is around the corner and I’d like to invite you to join me at MVA Church of Christ that morning. There are 3 services: 8am, 9:30am and 11am. I’d be honored to have you as my guest! Take care.
This week we learned about repentance.
All of us deal with shame for failures.

Sometimes people blame Christianity for making people feel guilty,
but everyone seems to do that well enough without the 10 Commandments. We get standards from somewhere.
God sent His Son to free us from guilt and shame.

We studied that this week. God’s mercy that He offers us is a free gift
and I can’t tell you how great it is to live free of guilt.
I’d like you to have that freedom too if you don’t already.
You can read more about it in Psalm 32 (page 563).

God bless!

This week we learned about belief. Believing that Jesus is who He said He was and did what He said He did is an essential part of faith (John3:36 pg.1090).

But believing in Jesus isn’t just believing in the facts about Him. That’s good because we’ll never know it all. Believing in Jesus is more like believing in a friend or a spouse. We trust Him to come through! Hope you have a great week, and I hope you’ll trust that Jesus can come through for you!

This week, we started a series called “God’s Love Language.”
You may have heard of the book by Gary Chapman called , “The 5 Love Languages.” It’s all about how people have a certain way (language) they primarily receive love through.
God has one as well: it’s when people do what He says. Jesus said, “if you love Me, you’ll keep my commands.”

So first, we’re talking about how to obey the gospel (good news) message. Romans 3:23-25 (page 1152) tells us that every person on earth has sinned (failed to live up to God’s standard) but Jesus has provided a way for those sins to be forgiven.

I look forward to sharing more about how that happens over the next few weeks. Thanks again allowing me to share with you. Let me know how I can be praying for you this week!
Once again thanks for a moment of your time to share where I’m at in my Bible study.

This week at MVA, we talked about the Bible being clear or understandable. While some parts of the Bible have clearer meaning than others, the main things that we need to understand are simple for anyone. You don’t need a seminary degree – which is a good thing for the majority of us.

For example, if you read one of the most well known passages in the Bible, John 3:16 (page 1089), and the text around it, you’ll find the Bible is pretty easy to understand.

If you have any questions, that’s why I’m here! Have a great week!
Hebrews 1:1-4 (page 1221)

In this passage we see how God has revealed Himself
and His complete plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Through Jesus’ ministry and act on the cross, God’s message to us is complete and
sufficient to teach us how to live in God’s will and find rest and redemption through Him.

God has given us everything we need to know
through His word which was made known through the person of Jesus.
So will you get into your WORD and hear what He has to say?
Hey I hope you’re having an awesome day!

This week we studied Psalm 119 (page 627)
It’s the longest chapter in the whole Bible.
Psalms are basically very honest poems written to God.

This one is all about how much the poet loves the scriptures.
If you’d like to read through it this week, like I am, you’ll find him saying that he is very encouraged by simply reading God’s Word and responding to it in songs, study, prayer, etc.
If you have any questions let me know.
Hope you have a great week!

Thanks for taking the Bible I shared with you. I’m going to send you a note from time to time sharing as I study my Bible and think of you.

2 Peter 1:16-21 (page 1241) Peter is a close friend of Jesus. He is writing a letter to friends and tells them that they can trust what he has taught them about Jesus because he personally saw what Jesus did along with a lot of other eyewitnesses.

I hope this will be an encouragement for you to read today. I’m praying for you.
Have a great day.

And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts…
